Hell Raisin!
Hell Raisin!
For those feeling a bit fruity, this biscuit is laced with juicy Australian Raisins (aka, Sultanas) for additional fibre and juicy taste that promises to 'raise' your taste buds in excitement.
On a more serious and sombre note, the not so 'pun-ny' reference to 'hell' here is a historical link for The Weary ANZAC Biscuit Company. With this biscuit The Weary Anzac tips our slouch hat in commemoration of the diggers who endured captivity as prisoners of war (POW) in the Asian and Pacific in the Second World War, (WW2) and particularly those who suffered or died at Hellfire Pass.
Hellfire Pass is a geographical location, a railway cutting in the jungle on the former Thai-Burma Railway in Thailand. It was named Hellfire Pass by Allied POWs who were forced to build it during their captivity as POWs. The reference to hell by the POWs forced to work on the railway was due to the particularly harsh conditions they were made to endure, and the heavy loss of life suffered by POWs during this stage of the railway's construction.
